New Release: Ayka Maaee with message from the Divine MotherI am so excited to share my first solo, self produced recording with you!
This year, when my husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday I said I wanted to learn how to use recording software so I could record and arrange my own songs. Little did I know or even imagine how incredible this process would be. Having the power to put my ideas down as they came through feels like what I have been searching for all my life. Set up, press record, sing, repeat: utter divine bliss! During this time I also put out a prayer for someone to collaborate with and add guitar on my tracks…that night I woke up at 3 am with the answer: Chris Micca. Twenty years ago before I left to study in India I had a band with my dear friend Chris and we wrote songs together as easy as breathing. I had lost touch with him during the eleven years I spent outside the US but when I asked if he would be interested in playing on some recordings he said yes! https://kiranjotkaur.bandcamp.com/track/ayka-maaee-with-message-from-the-divine-mother My husband Jose Onate is an incredible sound engineer who became a wild starry- eyed scientist in his sound lab over the last few months trying new plug-ins and studying master producers to get the sound I told him I wanted. Being parents it was also a challenge to find a quiet moment to get the final take (setting up a tent outside for our 7 year-old proved to be fairly effective). Being hunkered down in place and far from Chris we also had the hurdle of getting him set up to record himself from North Carolina. This is the result of our trials and errors, labor of love and kitchen/ living room recording studios…from our shelter to yours! When I sat down to record this mantra a brand new english verse came through. Instead of my previously created lyrical translation of the mantra suddenly the Divine Mother herself was speaking. This is her message to us all, her beautiful children: My Darling my child no matter how many miles there’s nothing in the whole wide world that can take my love from inside of you there’s nothing in the whole wide world that can take my love away –Kiranjot Kaur I am so grateful for your support by listening, buying the track, following me on Bandcamp and sharing with your friends or any other inspirations you may have to share!
